The first SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short Course (DISC) was launched in 1998. The instructor, typically a renowned name in the geophysics world, is chosen every year in cooperation with SEG and teaches a one-day course at 25 locations all over the world. The course comes with a DISC course book which is included in the participant's fee. On the left-hand side menu you can find the currently running SEG/EAGE DISC Tour highlighted, and a link to an overview of all SEG/EAGE DISC's.

SEG to end DISC collaboration with EAGE

The 2011 Distinguished Instructor Short Course (DISC) will be the last co-sponsored by the SEG and EAGE. In a surprise development following the SEG Annual Meeting in Denver 2010, SEG has officially notified the EAGE that its Executive Committee had agreed to phase out the partnership with EAGE following the 2011 DISC tour. From 2012 SEG intends to administer the worldwide tour on its own. The EAGE Board regrets this decision.
